FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS:

If you have additional questions, please give us a call 303-684-8436

Q. What options do I need to purchase to have a full ATG?

A. The Tank Manager console standard equipment includes all the electronics for up to 6 in-tank probes, liquid sensors, 2 serial ports, modem, and overfill relay. The console and In-tank probes are included in the standard package. Multiplexers for adding liquid and brine sensors, sharing the same homerun cable as In-Tank probe.

Q. Can the Tank Manager test manifolded tanks?

A. Yes, the results from each tank are added together automatically for a single combined result using CITSLD option.

Q. Does the Tank Manager have continuous tank testing?

A. Yes, the Tank Manager automatically collects data and performs a test when there is enough quiet time to conduct a test. This is important for 24 hour stations. However, the ability to find enough quiet time is dependent on throughput and delivery frequency. A delivery every day may prevent any system from testing the tank due to temperature changes of the fuel.

Q. What is the best way to detect and protect against leaking tanks?

A. Install double wall tanks, piping, and containment sumps. Put monitors in the interstitial spaces. This approach contains leaks, protects the environment and provides immediate indication of leaks. If you want the best leak protection, install double wall tanks. Using sensors, the Tank Manager can monitor these interstitial spaces in addition to providing inventory measurement with the in-tank probes.

Q. Why is the Tank Manager priced thousands less than the best known competition?

A. The Tank Manager is designed with all the electronics on a single printed circuit board. This removes the need for electronic components in each probe. The high degree of integration reduces overall manufacturing costs and improves reliability. Lower cost means lower price to you without sacrificing performance. As a matter of fact, the Tank Manager outperforms the competition.

Q. Which ATG technology is the best?

A. The top two technologies are ultrasonic and magnetostrictive (mag for short). The Tank Manager uses ultrasonic technology which is capable of a resolution for depth measurement of .0003 inches. This is more than double that of a mag probe and is significant in testing a tank in a very short a period of time. Also, the inherent properties of ultrasonics provide for direct measurement of temperature change of fuel during testing to better than .01 degrees F. A mag probe requires separate temperature sensors and electronics and cannot achieve the temperature change resolution of an ultrasonic probe. The reliability of the ultrasonic probe far exceeds a mag probe.

Q. How long will the probe last?

A. The ultrasonic probe is designed to last more than 5 years with the standard warranty being 1 year. We have many probes that remain working after more than 10 years of service. Our experience shows that the junction of the probe cable with the homerun cable is the most likely thing to fail. Check the "installation" section on this website for proper wiring techniques. If the probe does fail, replacement of the transducer housing is possible without replacing the entire probe. This significantly reduces replacement cost. Mag probes often need to be fully replaced.

Q. What is Site Tel?

A. Site Tel is a communications and data package that allows you to access all the data and information about your tanks through this windows application. Site Tel can be set up on a back room windows PC or run remotely from a central location. It provides clear, easy to read screens that show tank volume, inventory history, tank test history, alarm status, and much more. With Site Tel, you can generate compliance reports at the touch of a button. Best of all, you own the package and the data - there's no need to pay costly monthly fees just to view your own data.

Q. How do I access information from my sites?

A. Site Tel is linked to all your sites through your modem. By simply dialing your sites, data is imported to your computer and is stored on your hard drive. Site Tel can be set up to run on the central office computer, the onsite back room PC, your service contractors' PC, or all of the above.

Q. Can I automatically dial all my sites?

A. Yes, our Site Tel Professional software package has autodial capability. Site Tel Professional will autodial all your sites and have the data waiting for you in the morning. Site Tel Standard requires manual dialing to your sites.

Q. Is there a monthly fee to use Site Tel?

A. No. Once you buy it, Site Tel is yours, as is all your data. There is no monthly fee to operated the system, view your own data, and print out your own reports.

Q. Is the onsite modem extra?

A. All Caldwell System in-tank monitoring systems come with the modem included. Unlike our competitors, we don't nickel and dime you on the extras.

Q. How do I get technical assistance from the factory?

A. The Tank Manager has a built in modem as standard equipment that can be connected to the factory or your installers home office for immediate diagnostic analysis. This telephone service in most cases can fix the problem without a service call to the site. There are common problems that are within the capabilities of the station personnel to correct.

Q. Can I get extended warranty on probes?

A. Yes, for $150 per probe at purchase time you can extend probe warranty to 5 years.

Q. What is CITLDS?

A. CITLDS is a qualitative method that uses continuously collected data from the Tank Manager ATG during its idle period. Results are calculated by averaging data over a period of time determined by the activity of the tank. This can range from 4 days to 27 days. It is not necessary to shut down your tanks for testing using CITLDS.
